Memorial Day..Not a Celebration
Updated: May 30
Memorial day is traditionally the unofficial start of summer with many backyard BBQ's, parades and fireworks. Sadly this is a very much misconstrued holiday. It is not a celebratory day, but in fact a day of sorrow.
This day is a day of remembrance and respect, showing our gratitude and sharing our sorrow for those who gave their all in preservation of our freedom.
This is the gravesite of Joseph J. Jacubic, the namesake of the American Legion Post 572 in Parma Ohio
Each year American Legion Posts and other veteran organization throughout the country hold Memorial Day services. Many place flags and/or wreaths on all veterans gravesites in all cemetary's within their community. .
This is the day we honor our heroes who gave their lives to defend our freedom. Do not wish a veteran a "happy memorial day", this is not intended to be a happy day.
